Last Sunday, Zaira Wasim announced that she has decided to quit Bollywood, stating that it had threatened her relationship so much with religion. Also in some of her social media posts, Wasim has clearly mentioned that in the last five years, she had changed so much as a person and also struggled a lot with who she had now become. She implies that she arrived at this decision after a lot of introspection.
Zaira Wasim in a detailed post on her Facebook page, which she later shared across all the social media platforms, said that she realized though I may fit here perfectly, I do not belong here anymore.
Zaira also said that This field indeed brought to me a lot of love, support, and much applause my way, but what it also did was to lead me to a path of so much ignorance, as I silently and also unconsciously transitioned out of my ‘imaan,’ i.e., faith. I then continued to work in an environment that was consistently interfering with ‘imaan’ i.e. my relationship with my religion, that was threatened.
Wasim also said as she continued to “ignorantly pass through it” while she was trying to convince herself that whatever she was doing was quite okay and was not really affecting her so much, “I lost all the ‘Barakah,’ i.e. blessings from my life”.
